AFR open film submissions for 2023

all fruits ripe has opened submissions for its 2023 programme. Following a two-year hiatus, the independent series for LGBTQIA+, Global Majority filmmakers returns.

The nomadic platform prioritises shorts under 40 minutes with a credited LGBTQIA+ director, screenwriter, or producer from a Global Majority background. Submissions aren’t required to feature LGBTQIA+ characters but it is encouraged.

Founded by Candice Nembhard (okcandice) in 2019, the first screening took place at Berlin’s Trauma Bar & Kino with additional events at be’kech (Berlin) and Soho House Berlin. Previous screenings include works by Elliot Blue (Trans Teen Film Fest), Poliana Baumgarten (Zeit), Chantal Adams (NTS Radio), Esther Kondo Heller (Cornell University), and Katrina Singleton (BIPOC Film Society).

Directors, screenwriters, and producers looking to submit their films for an AFR event can do so via the website’s submission form. Spaces, programmers, and media outlets seeking to collaborate on future AFR events can get in touch via the website’s ‘partner with us‘ section.

Submissions are open all year round. Additional details can be found on AFR’s FAQ page.
